Child Protection Policy Statement
Sutton Bonington Cricket Club (The Club) is committed to ensuring that all Children participating in cricket have a safe and positive experience.
The word “Children” should be taken to mean all persons under the age of 18 years
The Club will do this by:-
• Recognizing that all Children participating in cricket (regardless of age, gender,
Race, religion, sexual orientation, ability or disability) have a right to play cricket and be protected from harm in a safe and positive environment.
• Appointing a Club Child Protection Officer and ensuring that they have the necessary skills to be able to undertake their role effectively.
• Ensuring that all people who participate in cricket at or for our club, (Officials, Volunteers, Team Managers, and Coaches etc.) understand that the club Child Protection Policy applies to them and is in place in order to provide a safe and positive cricketing experience for children.
• Ensuring that the name & contact details for the Club Child Protection Officer is available as the first point of contact for Parents, Children, Volunteers, Coaches and Managers within the club and as the main point of contact within the club for relevant external agencies.
• Ensuring that reporting procedures exist for raising and managing child protection issues. These procedures should recognize the responsibility of the statutory agencies such as the Police and Social Services
• Providing everyone connected with the club (including parents, children and
Volunteers) with the opportunity to voice any Child Protection concerns to the Club Child Protection Officer.
• Ensuring that all suspicions, concerns and allegations are taken seriously and dealt with swiftly and appropriately.
• Ensuring that access to confidential information relating to Child Protection matters is restricted to the Club Protection Officer and the appropriate external authorities.
